Mid Canterbury Newcomers Network

The Mid Canterbury Newcomers Network is a service for people who have recently moved to the district to help connect them so that they feel at home here.

We work with newcomers, whether from another part of New Zealand or from overseas, to create a sense of inclusiveness and understanding for the diverse ethnic and cultural population in the Ashburton District.

Our activities include monthly dinners, cultural awareness workshops, supporting existing local initiatives such as Welcoming Communities, and providing one-on-one support to people to connect them to different services and groups.

Moving to a new town or country can be pretty scary – especially if you are on your own, or have no form of transport. We help people settle in, make new friends, and find the support they need to feel like part of the community.
