Ashburton Senior Citizens (Thrive)

In January 2024, Ashburton Senior Citizens Incorporated came under the Safer Mid Canterbury umbrella. In 2025, they are rebranding to Thrive.

"Our mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with passion, compassion, humour, and style."

Thrive aims to ensure that all elders in Mid Canterbury achieve a state of wellbeing in which every individual realises their full potentional, can navigate normal stresses, and therefore live a full and meaningful life. They provide a one-to-one, home-based service of holistic support and advocacy for seniors, and are also a Total Mobility provider for Ashburton District.

Principles

Respect: the intrinsic uniqueness and dignity of every human being

Compassion: for the inequities others face, showing kindness and ensuring fairness regarding access to resources which support quality of life

Connection: building relationships in the wider community, contributing and collaborating with others to create an age-friendly community; raising awareness of the effects of ageism facing seniors.
